Transforming a Winter Mudscape into a Standout Mablethorpe Holiday Park Feature

At SPA Landscaping, we take pride in delivering projects that not only meet a brief but elevate the entire environment. One of our recent projects on a holiday park in Mablethorpe is a perfect example of how thoughtful design, skilled execution and sheer determination can transform even the most challenging site.

We were commissioned to carry out a full landscape installation for a new static caravan area within a Mablethorpe holiday park. The goal was to create an inviting, visually striking space that would immediately impress visitors while also being practical, durable and environmentally conscious.

When our team arrived on site, they were met with less-than-ideal conditions. The area was effectively a rain-soaked mound of mud, made even more difficult by some of the harshest winter weather. Despite this, the team remained focused on delivering a high-quality finish that would stand the test of time.

The project involved a complete landscaping package, including turfing across multiple zones and the planting of shrubs and trees, as well as the installation of protective rabbit guard fencing to help protect the bedding area from destruction.

A key feature of the design was a large D-shaped central bed, positioned prominently along the main road. This was intentionally created as an eye-catching focal point that visitors would notice immediately upon entering the new area.

To achieve this, we incorporated three large feature rocks to anchor the design, a mix of ornamental grasses and complementary planting, and a clean gravel finish to enhance texture and contrast.

A standout aspect of this project was the use of three different types of turf, each chosen for a specific purpose. Amenity turf was used in recreational areas for durability and everyday use, species-rich turf was used to help support ecological diversity, and wildflower turf was used to introduce vibrant seasonal colour and encourage pollinators.

The wildflower areas, in particular, will continue to evolve over time, providing both visual interest and environmental benefits. We can’t wait to see them once they begin flowering!

Despite battling persistent rain and difficult ground conditions, our team successfully transformed the site into a polished, welcoming landscape. What was once a muddy, unusable area is now a structured, visually appealing centrepiece that enhances the entire holiday park.

SPA Landscaping combines creativity with technical expertise and hard work to deliver exceptional outdoor spaces. If you’re looking to transform your outdoor space - no matter the scale or conditions - we’d be happy to help bring your vision to life.
