February Grounds Maintenance Across Multiple Sites in Northern England
Grounds maintenance in spring and summer comes with its own set of challenges, with regular mowing, watering and pruning needed to keep properties looking lush and welcoming through the warmer months. Before the new season arrives, however, it’s equally important that our grounds maintenance teams tackle any last winter maintenance jobs in February in preparation for this new growth. This ensures that each property is in good standing before spring hits and the cutting season is in full effect.
You may think that our professional grounds maintenance teams get to take it easy during the colder months comparatively, but you’d be mistaken. Although the greenery may be dormant - which does make our job easier in one sense - our teams work just as hard throughout the winter months to keep our clients’ properties looking and operating at their best by cleaning up winter debris and dealing with any potentially hazardous conditions that can cause slips, trips and falls.
The last of this winter maintenance work is usually carried out in February, taking care of those last signs of winter wear before the sun starts to come back out to play. SPA Landscaping’s Team 3 was busy covering multiple clients across the northern region this February, carrying out their monthly maintenance visits to ensure that everything was in place to welcome in spring properly. The sites included properties managed by the Devonshire Property Group, Wilson Properties and NHS Sites, to name a few.
This February grounds maintenance entails making sure that all hard surfaces are clean and clear from winter debris and any general build-up that results from winter storms throughout the season. This includes ensuring that all windblown litter and housekeeping is in order across each site. Although usually minimal, it’s important to take care of removing any winter weed growth. Our team also ensures that all shrubs and borders are tidied and pruned ahead of any spring growth. This not only makes sure that they look prim and proper in the meantime, but it also often means that the shrubs will grow back even stronger and encourages more blooms as they start to come into their own again.
It might not be the most glamorous of work, but we think it’s important to showcase the hard work that our teams put into clearing kerb edges of winter debris to leave them in tip-top shape ahead of spring. And as you can see from the pictures, they always do a fantastic and meticulous job!
